Best UGC Platform for Small Business: Budget Thresholds

What one UGC video really costs a small business: the lowest first order on seven platforms, the fees stacked on top, and where a subscription starts to pay.

What the best UGC platform for small business has to get right

The best UGC platform for small business is the one that will sell you exactly one video, at a price it publishes, without a monthly floor attached. Four of the seven platforms ranked above meet that test: JoinBrands at a $50 creator floor plus a 15% fee, soona UGC at $89, Clip at $124, and Speekly at €129 for an edited 15-second video — its €49 tier buys raw footage you still have to cut yourself. Collabstr and Youdji also sell single orders, at whatever rate the creator sets: Youdji's pricing page prints Subscription $0/month and Commission 0% on the brand side and leaves the video price to the creator (read 2026-09-14). Billo publishes $99 a video on its own comparison pages, but you order it out of a prepaid balance rather than as a single purchase, and its pricing page redirects to a login screen.

That is the whole decision at this budget. Everything below is the arithmetic behind it.

One figure needs reconciling before the table makes sense. JoinBrands' pricing page advertises videos from $25, and $25 plus the Free plan's 15% fee is where the roughly $29 figure at the top of this page comes from. JoinBrands' own help center puts the minimum for a classic UGC video job at $50, and the US builder pre-fills $60. So $29 is the sticker and $57.50 is the cheapest order the help center says you can actually place. That $25 is printed in every UGC-video row of the pricing table and under all four plans, but the only order that actually charges it is a Blast bundle, priced per post, discounted to $25 a TikTok at a hundred posts, and final once bought. Everything below this paragraph uses the help-center floor.

A note on what this page is: CompareUGC sells no UGC and has not paid for a video on any platform here. Most figures below are read off a pricing page, a help-center article or a terms document, and carry the date we read them. Two are weaker than that: Billo's rate card sits behind a login, so its $99 is read off Billo's own comparison posts instead, and the size of the credit pack you have to fund before you reach that price is a G2 figure with nothing on Billo's site to check it against. Both are labelled where they appear. Paid placement exists on this site, is labelled Sponsored, and buys neither a score nor a position.

Speekly€49 for raw footage up to 40 seconds; €129 for an edited 15-second videoVAT, editing add-ons from €25 (music €25, subtitles and call-outs €39 each), and any revision past the firstYes — the brand T&C grant an exclusive right of use, unlimited in territory and content, for the licence period you pick when you order, and unlimited in time if you pick that; on the cards themselves the rights line sits on the €69 Raw Material Basic packagePricing page, editing-service page and brand T&C all 2026-09-14
YoudjiNo platform minimum and 0% brand commissionThe creator's rate — site examples run from about $50 for raw footage to about $350 a video, with ad broadcasting rights shown at about $150No — scoped per order in the auto-generated contractPricing 2026-09-14; creator examples 2026-09-02
Billo$99 a video, published by Billo in its own comparison posts rather than on a rate card — billo.app/pricing redirects to a login screenFunding a balance first: Billo's posts say brands buy packs and order against the balance, and G2 lists entry packs from about $500Yes — rights transfer to the brand on approval (Brand Terms §8.1)Billo pages 2026-09-14; G2 figure 2026-09

Three rows deserve a warning label. Billo's $99 is Billo's own number but not a rate card, and the roughly $500 pack you fund to reach it is G2's, so treat the entry cost as an order of magnitude. Collabstr's $50 is a floor on the size of one order, not a price and not a monthly commitment — Collabstr's own blog puts the average collaboration at $154 in a post dated 30 June 2026, with roughly 80% of brand engagements under $300. That is the platform reporting on itself rather than anything audited, and an older Collabstr post gives a different average for 2025. And Speekly runs two price lists: its English site shows €129 for the 15-second video, its German one €119.

The cheapest way to buy one usable UGC video

The headline number and the number that leaves your account are different. On JoinBrands, which advertises the lowest video price in the table above, they differ by a factor of three and a half. Here is one video on JoinBrands' Free plan, US marketplace, product reimbursed rather than shipped:

Line itemAmountBasis
Creator fee at the published floor$50.00Quoted — help center, read 2026-09-03
Platform fee, 15% on the Free plan$7.50Quoted — pricing page, read 2026-09-14
Product reimbursement$25.00Your product's cost; $25 assumed here
US sales tax on the reimbursement, 10%$2.50Quoted rate
Card processing, 3.5% of the $85.00 subtotal$2.98Published for Blast campaigns; we assume it applies to ordinary top-ups. Fund from wallet balance and this is $0
Out the door$87.98Against a $25 advertised sticker

Two of those lines are not the platform's markup. The $25 product and the $2.50 of tax on it are your cost of goods, and you would pay them to whoever filmed the video. Strip them out and JoinBrands' own side of the bill is $60.48 — 2.4 times the $25 sticker, and the only figure worth carrying across to another platform. Swap the assumptions for your own product price and the shape holds.

That distinction decides the comparison everyone actually makes: $87.98 here against $89 at soona's entry creator tier. One video either way, but those are not the same kind of number. soona's $89 is platform-side only — you still ship product, which the $87.98 above has already absorbed as a $25 reimbursement plus its tax. Like for like it is $60.48 against $89, so soona costs roughly $29 more per video before your product moves. What the extra buys is a licence soona's UGC page calls unlimited and worldwide and its terms call perpetual, included in the price, and delivery roughly a week after the creator has your product in hand. JoinBrands' Free plan gives you one revision per job and a ten-day clock that approves the content for you, paying the creator whether or not you replied.

If the risk of an unusable first video is what is stopping you, Clip is the outlier worth the extra: $124 buys no contract, no minimum, and a 30-day money-back window — one about creators you never hired, not videos you did not like. Read the next section before you treat that refund as insurance.

For the same arithmetic across every route into UGC, including agencies and AI tools, see what UGC actually costs. For entry prices across every platform we track — four rows, Aspire, Cohley, Skeepers and Upfluence, carry a labelled third-party figure or a quote-only note instead of a published price — use the UGC platform pricing table.

What a refund actually covers

A refund policy in this category is not a quality guarantee, and the gap is where small budgets get hurt. On every platform here that publishes a route back, the trigger is a process failure — lateness, a dispute filed in time, an unspent balance, a cancellation made before a creator is picked, a file that ignores the brief or arrives technically unusable. That is a list of delivery faults, not a list of tastes, and Youdji writes the boundary down: a cancellation argued on the creator's style or artistic approach is refused.

PlatformWhat actually triggers a refundWhat it does not reach
JoinBrandsA job you cancel yourself after it has entered Late Status; the refund lands in your JoinBrands balance, not on your card (Refund Policy, updated 29 Jul 2026, read 2026-09-03)Subscriptions, Blast packages and extra content are all final, and the same policy says product and product-delivery costs are never reimbursed
soona UGCNothing does. soona's terms make every fee non-refundable and non-cancelable; that clause lives in the terms, and on 2026-09-14 refund wording came back from neither the UGC page nor the pricing page — not from the rendered text, not from their aria-label attributes, not from any JavaScript module either page loads (terms read the same day)Everything. Money moved into a retainer is non-refundable too, and the balance expires after thirteen months
CollabstrA User Dispute opened inside the 72-hour Brand Review Period; separately, a cancellation the creator ignores for 72 hours is auto-cancelled and refunded (ToS §10 and §2, knowledge base, read 2026-09-03)Let those 72 hours lapse and the order approves itself, and the refund right goes with it. Collabstr adjudicates its own disputes and calls the outcome final; unused subscription time is not refunded; escrow covers non-delivery, not a video that technically matches a thin brief
BilloIts two documents disagree. Brand Terms §6.9 make all charges final except where no creator was selected within 30 days of an order; the help center's refund policy says an unused balance is refundable in full within 30 days of purchase and afterwards minus a 25% administrative fee (both read 2026-09-03)Neither route is about the video. Resolve which one applies to you in a support ticket, in writing, before funding a balance
ClipNot selecting a creator within 30 days of starting the task, or not getting your product to the creator you picked within 14 days; the brand FAQ frames the same window as 30-day money-back when no applicant fits (Refund Policy, updated 5 Feb 2025, read 2026-09-14)A video you dislike, and anything at all once those windows close. Rounds of edits past the first are bought
SpeeklyCancelling through support before a creator is selected. Once applications have landed the money comes back as account credit minus a €15 cancellation fee, and after selection cancelling is not possible at all (brand terms, read 2026-09-14)Anything after selection. Content counts as accepted if you do not ask for a revision inside ten days, the second revision is chargeable, and the German site's withdrawal notice tells business buyers they get no right of withdrawal, statutory or contractual
YoudjiIts terms let Youdji impose a full or partial refund when deliverables are unusable, undelivered, badly late, or do not follow the brief or the script; until then payment sits in escrow (terms read 2026-09-14)Taste. A cancellation argued on style or artistic approach is refused outright, and if you do not validate within fourteen days of delivery the payment releases to the creator

Six of the seven publish a route back of some kind. The seventh, soona, publishes the opposite, a blanket non-refundable clause in its terms, and that is worth more to a buyer than silence, because it is a cost you can price in before you order. Either way the control that protects a first order sits upstream of the refund clause: four of these platforms hand your money over on a clock you have to beat, running from seventy-two hours at Collabstr through ten days at JoinBrands and Speekly to fourteen at Youdji. Write the brief tightly enough that "technically compliant" and "usable" mean the same thing, and put that deadline in your calendar the day a file lands.

Pay per video or subscribe: where the break-even sits

Of the six results this query returned on 2026-09-11, two were readable in full. Collabstr's own small-business buying guide gets as far as calling project-based pricing more flexible for a first test, and stops there; Hummingbirds' platform explainer does not weigh the two models at all, and tells you only to check whether a platform charges a flat fee or bills add-ons. Neither converts a subscription into a number of videos. The crossover is a single division: monthly subscription ÷ (per-video price you would otherwise pay − your cost per video inside the subscription).

Influee, at $229/mo on the Starter plan with no free trial, adds a 10% fee to creator payments (pricing page, read 2026-09-14). Using Influee's own stated average of about $58 for a US 30-second video, each video inside the subscription costs about $63.80. Against soona's $89 entry tier: $229 ÷ ($89 − $63.80) ≈ 9 videos a month. Under nine, pay per video. The subscription alone, before a single creator is paid, is worth about 2.5 soona videos. The answer holds only for the creator rate you feed it: Influee's own homepage shows videos from about $82, which with the same 10% fee is $90.20 — above soona's $89, so on those numbers the subscription never pays itself back at all. The one hedge Influee does publish is a money-back guarantee on the first month, and it fires on the same trigger as Clip's: you run a campaign and start no collaboration, not a video you did not like.

Insense is further out. The Brand plan runs $400/mo billed annually or $500/mo quarterly, with a 7–20% marketplace fee by tier and creator payments on top (pricing page, read 2026-09-14) — Insense's own pricing FAQ puts UGC campaigns at $100 a video and up, and $100 plus the Brand tier's 10% marketplace fee is about $110 inside the plan. Against Clip at $124: $400 ÷ ($124 − $110) ≈ 29 videos a month, and that division uses Insense's floor, the most generous input available, so a real creator rate pushes the crossover further out or past it entirely. And that is the ongoing plan, not the way in: Insense's entry is a $650 one-month paid trial that converts to the Brand plan automatically unless you cancel 48 hours before it ends.

Both calculations move with your creator rate — substitute yours, or model the full picture in our UGC rate calculator. What does not move is the direction: a small business ordering fewer than roughly nine videos a month is paying a floor for capacity it will not use.

Rights that come free, and rights that cost extra

Licensing is where cheap becomes expensive later, and the shortlist splits on where the answer lives. JoinBrands, soona UGC, Clip and Billo all include commercial rights in the base price, on the page that sells you the video. Collabstr does not — each creator sets their own terms, and extended rights can cost more depending on who you hire. There is a trap in how you agree them: Collabstr's knowledge base says messaging with a creator only opens after an order is placed, and chatting before you hire is a feature of the $299/mo Pro plan. On a first $50 order, the rights wording therefore has to be inside the brief you submit, not in a conversation you have not been allowed to start. Youdji scopes rights per order, with ad broadcasting priced on its own creator listings at around $150 when we read them on 2026-09-02. Speekly answers it in its brand terms rather than on the cards: acceptance transfers an exclusive right of use, unlimited in territory and content, for the licence period you choose when you place the order — and unlimited in time if that is the option you pick. On the cards themselves the rights line appears on the €69 Raw Material Basic package, so the terms document is the one to read before you price the job (brand T&C and pricing page both read 2026-09-14).

Practically, that means two Collabstr orders at the same price can be two different products, and only one of them is licensed to run as a paid ad. Spell out the rights you need in the order requirements themselves — on a free account that is the only document you control before the money moves. The platform-by-platform spread, including what "full rights" excludes at each one, is in our guide to UGC usage rights.

Who should skip each option

Most advice about UGC for small business stops at "start small". Here is the specific version — what each of these seven asks you to give up, and who should therefore not start there.

  • JoinBrands — skip if you cannot review deliverables inside ten days. Let the review timer expire and the job counts as accepted and paid at full price, and on the Free plan you get exactly one revision to stop that happening.
  • soona UGC — skip if you need the creator to post to their own audience. This is content production, not influencer reach, and reviewers describe the pool as skewed toward mass-market CPG.
  • Collabstr — skip if you cannot act inside the 72-hour review window: silence counts as approval, and approval ends the argument. Skip it too if you plan to move a creator onto a direct retainer soon — ToS §3 locks each creator you hire to the platform for eighteen months.
  • Billo — skip for a one-off purchase. The $99 a video it publishes is real, but you reach it by funding a balance, entry packs are reported from about $500, and complaints about prepaid balances expiring are frequent. It rewards steady ordering and punishes the occasional buyer.
  • Clip — skip if you want to browse and hand-pick creators. On Clip, creators apply to your brief.
  • Speekly — skip if you need US or English-native creators, or expect more than the one included revision. Its Trustpilot score is 2.5/5 across 49 reviews, with brief-compliance complaints.
  • Youdji — skip if you want fixed, predictable pricing without negotiating, or if you need a third-party review record before spending: we found none.

Four platforms we track are simply the wrong shape at this budget, whatever their merits at scale: Influee ($229/mo before creator fees, read 2026-09-14), Insense ($650 to get in the door, read 2026-09-14), Twirl ($325 a video with a four-video minimum first order, roughly $1,300, read 2026-09-02), and minisocial ($3,000 for a ten-creator project, read 2026-09-02). None of those four is in the ranked list above, so the sources listed at the foot of this page do not cover them. Each figure comes from that platform's own site on the date shown, with two page types worth naming: minisocial publishes its $3,000 in an FAQ rather than on a pricing page, and Twirl's $1,300 is its own $325 video multiplied by its own four-video minimum.

If your only filter is price, our cheapest-UGC-platforms list — one of two rankings on the guide index that are generated by a rule rather than chosen by an editor — is the ten lowest dollar entry prices among the platforms we track, sorted cheapest first. It is ten rows, not thirty-five: a platform priced in euros, like Speekly, and a platform with no figure to parse, like Collabstr, never enter that sort. It answers "what is lowest", not "what is safe to buy once", which is the question this page is about. How we weigh the terms behind these prices is set out in how we score.
