Billo vs JoinBrands: Which Should You Pick?

Our verdict
Pick JoinBrands for cheap volume: $25/video plus a 15% fee with no subscription, unlimited rights, and Spark Codes included — roughly $29 gets you a real test video versus Billo's ~$500 minimum credit pack. Pick Billo when quality consistency matters more than price: its vetted 5,000-creator pool, 2 included revisions, and 4.1/5 Trustpilot rating produce more reliable ad creative than JoinBrands' set-your-own-fee model, where one reviewer reported $900 spent with zero usable content. Amazon and TikTok Shop sellers specifically should still default to JoinBrands.

- DTC e-commerce brands needing a steady pipeline of TikTok/Meta ad creative on a per-video budget
- App and digital-product companies wanting testimonial-style videos without shipping physical goods logistics
- Marketing teams that want briefs, creator selection, delivery, and rights handled in one managed workflow
- Stronger on content quality control and creator pool

- Amazon and TikTok Shop sellers who need high volumes of cheap product UGC
- DTC brands testing UGC ads on a small budget via the free pay-as-you-go plan
- Agencies wanting white-label delivery and multi-seat campaign management (Max plan)
- Stronger on pricing, turnaround, usage rights and platform fees

Both are creator marketplaces, both transfer permanent rights at no extra fee, and both quote delivery inside two weeks of the creator receiving your product. The surface choice reads as vetted versus cheap. The real one is which set of published documents you can build a budget from, and which way your money gets stranded when a campaign goes wrong. Billo will not let you read its rate card at all. JoinBrands publishes one its own help center contradicts.
Both advertised prices are wrong, in opposite directions
Billo's billo.app/pricing returns a 301 redirect to a login screen, and the $99-per-video figure repeated across the web traces to a Capterra directory listing, not to Billo. The widely quoted $500-to-$30,000 pack range comes from G2 pricing data our review could not retrieve to confirm — HTTP 403 — so treat the roughly $500 entry pack as unconfirmed. What is certain is that production requires funding a balance, and that Brand Terms §6.5 lets Billo set minimum spend requirements "as stated on the Platform," meaning behind the login.
JoinBrands has the reverse problem: a published rate card that understates itself. The pricing page lists "UGC Videos $25+" on all four plans, while the help-center article on campaign minimums sets the US default at $60 and the floor at min(default, $50). Our own structured platform data still carries the $25 headline and the "$29 all-in" figure derived from it. Where the two disagree, believe the campaign builder.
So the honest one-video comparison is this. On JoinBrands, a video at the US default is $60 plus the Free plan's 15% fee, which is $69, plus 3.5% if you pay by card, plus your product and 10% US sales tax on the reimbursement. On Billo that transaction does not exist — you fund a balance whose minimum you cannot see before signing up.
At volume the gap narrows without closing. Our Billo cost model puts ten videos at $188 each at full adoption and $268 when seven of ten are usable; the JoinBrands model puts twelve orders at $137 each, or $164 when ten of twelve are usable. The two scenarios assume different order counts and adoption rates, so read ranges rather than points. On those two models JoinBrands lands about $51 cheaper per video at full adoption and about $104 cheaper once the modelled duds are priced in.
Convergence comes when you buy quality up, because on JoinBrands quality is an explicit multiplier: Level 2 creators add 50% to the base rate, Level 3 adds 100%, and duration adds 10% at 30 seconds. A 30-second Level 2 video is $60 × 1.5 × 1.1 = $99, or $113.85 after the fee — Billo's headline sticker, before Billo's own unpriced add-ons for length, expedited delivery, or top-tier creators.
The trade is who prices quality
Billo bundles it. You submit a brief, vetted creators from a 5,000-strong pool across the US, UK, Canada, and Australia apply, and you pick. You never see the creator's cut, and §6.11 confirms Billo "may add a commission fee, service fee or other markup" without quantifying it.
JoinBrands unbundles it and hands you the dial. It claims roughly 4 million creators — a marketing claim from a homepage that reads "100,000+ brands" in the header and "30K+ Brands" further down. It runs five marketplaces, with TikTok Shop video and live US-only. Setting the fee yourself is the feature and the failure mode: post at the floor, get floor-quality work. The one-star band holds a July 2026 reviewer describing "a $900 bill... and zero content produced." The dial has a second cost, too — matching Billo's two included edits means JoinBrands' $99/mo Start-up plan, whose fee saving only pays for itself above roughly $2,300 a month in creator payments.
What happens when it goes wrong
| Failure mode | Billo | JoinBrands |
|---|---|---|
| Off-brief delivery | 2 edits per video; §4.6 excludes "new requirements or material changes" | 1 revision on Free; 2 / 3 / 10 on the $99 / $299 / $499 plans |
| Slow review | No approval timer in the documents we quote | 10-day window, then auto-approval; only a formal rejection stops the clock |
| Refund request | §6.9 makes charges "final and non-refundable"; the help center offers the unused balance back minus 25%. The two conflict | Subscriptions, Blast packs and extra content are final; job refunds only after Late Status, only on your own cancellation, credited to your balance rather than your card |
| You stop buying | Packs expire 12 months from purchase, unused portion non-redeemable (§5.2) | Roll Over Cash and Promo Wallet balances removed on cancel or downgrade to Free |
| Recourse | Courts of Lithuania (§13.6–13.7); §10.3 puts your agreement with the creator, not Billo | Laramie County, Wyoming; claims commenced within one year (§15) |
Rights are where both are good. Billo's §8.1 has creators "irrevocably assign and transfer to you all rights, title, and interest" worldwide for the full duration on approval, watermark removed on download, no licensing upsell. JoinBrands' ToS §3.4.1 transfers all rights on full payment, the pricing page states unlimited usage, and TikTok Spark Codes plus Instagram Partnership Ad codes cost nothing extra — the one entitlement Billo does not match, since it treats organic posting and partnership ads as add-ons.
Both take something back. JoinBrands gives you no rights at all before payment, §3.4.2 says purchased content "may be used by brands and by JoinBrands in AI tools, including training models," and rejected content carrying your logo is licensed to JoinBrands perpetually for its own advertising. Billo's §8.4 grants Billo a "perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free" license over the deliverables, and Annex B §4.4 lets it use CreativeOps usage data to improve its AI models.
One caution on scores. Trustpilot rates JoinBrands 4.5/5 across 283 reviews and Billo 4.1/5 across 519, and that gap is not buyer preference: sampling the first page of each Trustpilot filter for our JoinBrands review found roughly 18 of 20 five-star reviews came from creators, and roughly 14 of 20 one- and two-star reviews from brands. Billo's distribution is barbell-shaped, 74% five-star against 13% one-star. Both are sentiment reported by those sources, not measurement.
JoinBrands for a published price, Billo for a managed brief
Buy JoinBrands if you sell in one of its five marketplaces, want a published price before you spend, can clear a review queue inside ten days, and buy enough volume that a few duds are absorbable. Do not buy it if brand or legal review runs past ten days, if you need more than one revision and intend to stay on Free, if a non-refundable order would hurt, or if you are an agency buying the $499 Max plan for its 8% fee below roughly $7,000 a month in creator spend.
Buy Billo if you ship physical product, order five to ten videos a quarter, want the brief-to-delivery workflow managed, and can demonstrably spend a prepaid balance inside twelve months. Do not buy it if you want one or two test videos — Billo alternatives that sell single videos fit that shape better — if a $1,000 to $5,000 write-off would damage your quarter, if your creative needs a third revision round, if you need creators outside four English-speaking markets, or if your finance team needs recourse it can exercise.
JoinBrands is cheaper, more legible, and far less forgiving of a slow reviewer. Billo takes more work off your desk and charges for it twice — once in a markup it will not quantify, again on a prepaid balance that expires at twelve months and whose refund route its own two documents describe differently. Confirm Billo's refund route in a support ticket before funding anything large, and do not buy JoinBrands on the $25 headline.

Frequently asked questions
Videos start at $99 each on a pay-per-video basis, funded by prepaying a credit balance (packs reportedly start around $500). Add-ons like longer videos, expedited delivery, or top-tier creators push typical real-world cost to roughly $120-$250 per video.
Yes, as a company: Billo is a Vilnius-headquartered marketplace founded in 2020, with 5,000+ vetted creators and 4.1/5 across 519 Trustpilot reviews and 4.0/5 across 13 on Capterra. The recurring complaints are about money terms rather than legitimacy. Billo publishes no price on its own site — billo.app/pricing redirects to a login — prepaid packs expire twelve months after purchase under Brand Terms §5.2, refunds carry a 25% administrative fee, and the Brand Terms and the help center disagree on whether an unused balance is refundable at all. Get the refund route confirmed in writing before you fund a large pack. Disputes are heard in the courts of Lithuania.
Billo's help center says creators usually deliver 7-12 days after receiving your product, with shipping time on top. Some Trustpilot reviewers report deliveries running longer than stated, so budget 2-3 weeks end to end for physical products.
There is no required subscription — the Free plan is pay-as-you-go with UGC images from $10 and videos from $25, plus a 15% platform fee. Optional subscriptions at $99, $299, and $499/month lower the platform fee to 12%, 10%, and 8% and include monthly Roll Over Cash credits. Realistic all-in cost is roughly $30-70 per video plus your product cost.
Yes. It holds a 4.5/5 TrustScore from 283 Trustpilot reviews, uses escrow payments, and has operated since 2021. Complaints exist — mostly about variable content quality and occasional slow support — but the large majority of reviews are positive.
Yes. JoinBrands' pricing page states that any purchased content comes with unlimited usage rights, and TikTok Spark Codes and Instagram Partnership Ad codes are included at no extra charge — a notable difference from platforms that charge separately for ad rights.
