Looking for a Billo alternative? These 8 UGC platforms cover similar use cases — compared on verified pricing, real user ratings, and what each is best for.
Read the full Billo reviewMost people looking for a Billo alternative are not unhappy with the videos. They are unhappy with the money terms around them. Billo publishes no price on its own site — billo.app/pricing 301-redirects to a login screen, and the widely repeated "$99/video" figure traces to a Capterra listing, not to Billo — our Billo review traces exactly where that number came from. Once you are inside, funding runs through prepaid credit packs (reportedly from around $500) that expire twelve months after purchase and become non-redeemable, refunds carry a 25% administrative fee, and every video includes only two revision rounds. None of that makes Billo a bad platform — its usage-rights transfer is genuinely one of the best in the category — but lumpy buyers, heavy-revision workflows, and anyone who needs a single test video have real reasons to look elsewhere.
This page is built the way the rest of CompareUGC is: from published pricing and platform documents, not from paid placement. We do not sell rankings and we take no commissions from the platforms listed here. Every price below is pulled from a platform's own pricing page or our verified platform records, and where a platform hides its rate card we say so instead of guessing. We have not run paid campaigns on these tools, so nothing here is dressed up as hands-on testing.
| Platform | Starting price | What's different from Billo | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| soona UGC (formerly Trend.io) | $89/video | Pay-per-video with no credit packs; unlimited perpetual rights included | Testing UGC with permanent rights and no expiry clock |
| Clip | $124/video | Published per-video price, full perpetual rights and one edit included, no minimum | A single fully-licensed video without prepaying a pool |
| JoinBrands | $25/video + 15% fee (help-center floor $50) | Buy one video with no funded balance; rights transfer on payment | Amazon and TikTok Shop sellers wanting cheap volume on a published rate card |
| Collabstr | Free to browse; creator's listed rate + 10% fee | Listed per-creator rates, no subscription or prepaid credits | First-time buyers comparing rates before committing |
| Youdji | $0 for brands (creators pay 20%) | No platform fee for brands; negotiate each order directly | European brands wanting direct creator deals with no markup |
| Brands Meet Creators | ~$250 per 5-video bundle | Escrow "no post, no pay"; free for creators | TikTok Shop sellers wanting pay-on-publish escrow |
| Insense | $400/mo (Brand, annual) + 7-20% fee | Built-in Meta Partnership Ads and TikTok Spark Ads workflow | Always-on paid-social creator programs at volume |
| Influee | $229/mo + creator fees (videos from ~$82) | Creators in 30+ countries with 65-language subtitles | Localized ads in European or non-US markets |
| Speekly | €49/video raw; edited from €129 | Fixed euro pricing and a DACH/German creator pool | German-language UGC on predictable per-video costs |
| Twirl | $325/video (4-video first order) | Self-serve or managed tiers, full rights, UK/US/EU creators | Managed per-video production with European coverage |
| minisocial | $3,000/project (10 creators) | Fully managed, and creators also post to their own audiences | DTC/CPG brands wanting licensed assets plus organic reach |
| Cohley | Custom quote (est. ~$200–$500+/video) | Enterprise breadth: UGC + pro photo/video + review syndication | Mid-market and enterprise programs needing one managed vendor |
Collabstr is the closest thing to a price tag in this category: you browse over a million creator profiles, see each rate up front, and pay into escrow with no subscription required to start. The buyer fee is 10% (5% on the $399/mo Premium plan), but read the fuller economics — creators also pay a separate 15% payout fee, which pushes the real combined take toward roughly 25% of the list price. The bigger thing to check before switching is usage rights: Collabstr's terms give you only a license to review the video unless you write rights into the order, and every creator you meet sits under an 18-month off-platform exclusivity lock. Switch to Collabstr if you want to test many creators once, on a published rate, without prepaying a balance — and tick the usage-rights box on every single order. Worked out in full: Billo vs Collabstr.
JoinBrands answers two of Billo's problems at once: it publishes a rate card, and it transfers full worldwide rights to the content on payment at no extra fee. The advertised "$25+" video is optimistic — its own help center sets a $50 floor and pre-fills the builder at $60, plus an 8–15% platform fee by plan — but that is still a real, readable number, and you can buy a single video with no funded pool. The catch is refundability: subscriptions, Blast packages, and extra content are all non-refundable, job refunds land in your account balance rather than on your card, and content auto-approves after ten days with only one revision on the free plan. Switch to JoinBrands if you sell on Amazon or TikTok Shop, can review content promptly, and want permanent rights at a published price. The unit math: Billo vs JoinBrands.
Insense is a different model entirely: a subscription marketplace ($400/mo on the Brand plan billed annually, $500 quarterly) with a 7–20% fee on every creator payment. You pay it for plumbing — Meta Partnership Ads and TikTok Spark Ads connections are built into every plan, so you are not chasing creators for ad codes after delivery. The commercial terms are strict: there is no monthly billing (quarterly or annual only), the $650 trial auto-converts to a $1,500 quarter, and cancellation needs 48 hours' notice. The math only works at volume — the blended cost drops below $150/video at roughly 13 videos a month. Switch to Insense if you run always-on creator ads on Meta or TikTok and can treat $1,500 a quarter as fixed cost; do not switch to it just to test whether UGC works for you. Worked out in full: Billo vs Insense.
If Billo's expiring credit packs are what pushed you to look, soona UGC — the platform soona built after acquiring Trend.io — is the most direct answer. It eliminated the old Trend credit packages in its 2026 relaunch in favor of pay-per-video from $89, with unlimited, worldwide, perpetual usage rights included on every approved asset and no annual commitment. Delivery runs about seven days after the creator receives your product. Two honest caveats: legacy Trend.io credit buyers have reported credits expiring and not being honored after the acquisition, and reviewers describe the creator pool as skewed toward mass-market CPG rather than premium goods. Switch to soona if you want to test a single video with permanent rights and no expiry clock — and buy videos, not bundles. Side by side: soona UGC vs Billo.
The alternatives split into four models, and the right one depends less on price than on how you buy.
Fixed per-video (soona $89, Clip $124, Twirl $325, Speekly from €129). You pay a set price per asset with no subscription and no prepaid pool. This is the closest replacement for Billo's per-video feel without the credit clock, and soona and Clip both fold full usage rights into the base price. Best when your volume is lumpy or you just need one or two videos.
Creator marketplace, pay-per-order (Collabstr, JoinBrands, Youdji, Brands Meet Creators). You browse or post a brief, hire per order, and pay a percentage fee instead of a subscription. This is the cheapest way to test many creators, but read two things first: the take rate (Collabstr's combined take is ~25%, JoinBrands adds 8–15%) and the default usage rights, which Collabstr and Youdji leave to per-order negotiation.
Subscription marketplace (Insense $400/mo+, Influee $229/mo+). A monthly floor buys tooling — ad-code workflows on Insense, multilingual reach on Influee — and only pays off at steady volume. If you would not order at least ~13 videos a month, a per-video service is cheaper.
Managed service (minisocial $3,000/project, Cohley custom, Twirl's managed tiers). Someone else runs sourcing, briefing, and delivery, and minisocial adds organic posting from the creators' own audiences. Higher spend, less work — the right call when you want assets plus distribution rather than raw files. On when the markup is worth it, the arithmetic is less obvious than it looks.
Map it to your situation: need a single test video without prepaying a balance → soona or Clip; selling on Amazon or TikTok Shop → JoinBrands or Brands Meet Creators; running non-English or European campaigns → Influee, Speekly, or Youdji; scaling always-on paid social → Insense; want it done for you → minisocial or Cohley.
Billo is still a competent, well-reviewed marketplace, and its automatic worldwide IP assignment is genuinely one of the strongest in the category — for a DTC brand that ships physical product, orders five to ten videos a quarter, and can reliably spend a prepaid balance inside twelve months, it remains a reasonable pick. The reasons to switch are almost all financial: if your volume is lumpy, your budget can't absorb credits that quietly expire, or you simply want a price you can read before you pay, soona UGC and Clip give you per-video pricing with permanent rights included, while JoinBrands and Collabstr let you buy without funding a pool. Match the model to how you actually buy, confirm usage rights in writing, and the "alternative" will usually cost you less than the credit you would have let expire.
